Weekly events at God's Church
We (the kids and parents) meet on Wednesday afternoons at the UCCC church to do our homework and learn about Japanese. We write it and speak it. We learn about the foods. We learn about the ways Japanese culture influences us. We have fun and laugh a lot! And we always have a snack. Sometimes it is an Asian snack. Other weeks it is good old-fashioned American fare. We enjoy each other's company, and we sometimes go swimming at Pastor Ellen's place afterwards. Sometimes we go to the library and hang out or check out books. We enjoy each other's company because God's presence and grace knits our souls together. We are a fun bunch!
The women meet weekly on Thursday evenings at Panera Bread (on Kettleman Lane and Lower Sacramento Road) from 7 to 8:30 pm. We have a time of sharing, study, and simply soaking in God's presence! It is amazing and healing! It is wonderful and a time of bonding.
We also help to serve the homeless at Lawrence Park on Saturday afternoons. We find God's presence to be strongly present, and we enjoy our time with those who have a heart for God and are searching for His peace and understanding as we each do daily.
Monthly we make bento meals for our shut-ins, older adults, or those who just need a home-cooked meal by our kids! It is comfort food, and we deliver them for free! The fun is in the making of the foods. The blessing is in the giving of the bento. We are blessed to be able to serve around 20 bentos per month. How awesome it is to serve our Lord!
